A series of seven lectures in streaming dedicated to museums and collections of which Federico Zeri edited important catalogues.
To Zeri cataloguing was a basic instrument of knowledge and conservation. And one of the themes that keeps returning throughout his career is precisely the need to safegaurd the art heritage.
Museums and collectors commissioned Zeri to catalogue their artworks. From the first catalogues he compiled in the 1950s for the great Roman fideicommissary collections, the Galleria Spada (1954) and Galleria Pallavicini (1959), down to those of Italian paintings kept at American museums like the Metropolitan of New York (1971-86) and the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore (1976), they stand as models of connoisseurhip. As do his catalogues for prestigious private collectors like Alberto Saibene, Vittorio Cini and Frederick Mason Perkins.
