Photo Library

The Federico Zeri Photo Library is a complex of collections, the original and most significant of which is the Zeri Photo Archive with 290,000 photos. Over the years various other sets have been added, all documenting works of art. The holding has thus reached its present size of 450,000 photos, and continues to grow.

Zeri Collection

The photo archive is comprised of over 290,000 photos of artworks and monuments. Besides its rich Italian painting series, the kernel of the archive, it contains sizable core collections covering Still life, Italian sculpture, Archaeology, the Applied arts, Miniatures.

Other Photographic Collections

The Foundation photo archive is constantly growing as scholars, collectors and photographers make new donations of archives and collections. Such collections vary in their form, but all provide documentation of an art heritage.

Documents attached

The Federico Zeri Foundation archive is comprised of many documents found among the scholar's photographs. They are notes on his work, expertises, restoration reports, correspondence with collectors, antiquarians and scholars, pamphlets, extracts from journals or volumes, drafts of articles.

Activities

The Photo Archive has diversified its activities greatly over time. From cataloguing photographic materials, it has gone on to design databanks of the art history heritage, research into the field of digital humanities, and provide training and consultancy for libraries, photo archives and the archive sector.
